His Majesty the King promoted Major General Batoo Tshering to the rank of Lieutenant General this morning. His Majesty is the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Lt. General Batoo Tshering was commissioned into the Royal Bhutan Army in 1971. He became the Chief Operations Officer of the Royal Bhutan Army in 2005. Lieutenant General Batoo is the recipient of Druk Yugyel, Drakpoi Wangyel, Drakpoi Thugsey, Drakpoi Khorlo and Drakpoi Rinchen Tsugtor medals during his years of service.
His Majesty the King also granted Kabney and Patang to Thinley Dorji, appointing him as a member of the Royal Privy Council.
Thinley Dorji has been serving as the General Secretary of the Bhutan India Friendship Association of Phuentsholing Chapter. He was nominated as a member of the Royal Privy Council by the National Council in accordance with the Constitution.
His Majesty the King appointed Major Sonam Wangdi as the Personal Secretary to His Majesty the King.
