Tractor rendered useless in absence of a bridge

Tractor-rendered-useless-in-absence-of-a-bridge. A tractor, that was supposed to ferry people of Nabji, Korphu and Nimshong villages under Trongsa dzongkhag, is not serving its purpose. People of these three villages have to walk about five hours to the gewog centre, every day.

Some people BBS spoke to said, the tractor is almost rusting and has been lying idle at Wangdigang under Zhemgang, since it was given to the people two years back.

The reason, they say, is the lack of a bridge over Mangdechu River at Wangdigang. Even though there is a farm road connecting the gewog centre, the lack of bridge renders the road almost useless, the villagers say.

The construction of a suspension bridge at Wangdigang was left halfway, after the completion of the foundation last year. The construction began in 2011.

Khorphu Gup, Tsheltrim Dorji, said the construction of the bridge was left halfway given the budget constraint. However, he did say the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement is supposed to take over the construction within the next few months.
