More than a hundred scouts are participating in a two-week leadership programme at the military training centre in Wangdue Phodrang. The scouts are from Punakha, Wangdue, Paro, Haa and Thimphu. The leadership programme is an attempt to revitalise the scouting programme.  The Scouts and Culture Division of the Department of Youth and Sports along with the Royal Bhutan Army have organised the leadership programme.  Introduced in 1996, the school-based scout programme currently has over 20,000 member scouts and about 1000 trained scout leaders.
