FAO country’s representative presents credentials to Foreign Minister

FMThe Food and Agriculture Organization Country Representative to Bhutan, Somsak

Pipoppinyo, presented his credentials to the Foreign Minister, Rinzin Dorje, today.

Mr. Pipoppinyo who is a Thai national, was appointed as the FAO Representative in Nepal in April this year and he is concurrently accredited to Bhutan.

The Bhutanese government and FAO partnership started in 1973 with FAO executing the UNDP-funded Development projects before Bhutan became a member of the FAO in 1981.

FAO has also been instrumental in supporting Bhutan during the bird flu outbreaks through technical and financial support. The FAO Country Office in Thimphu was established in 1985.
