The Foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of Sangye Migyur Ling Lhakhang at Rinzinling in Phuentsholing was performed today. The ceremony was presided over by Tsula Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang.
Though the ground breaking ceremony was performed in 2011 by His Holiness the Je Khenpo, the construction works did not start as the area, on a hill top, had to be stabilized for the purpose. The construction, under the name of Mila Sekhar Guthog Construction project, is being funded by sponsors from around the world. It is worth about Nu.90 million.
The first phase includes the construction of a shrine and a nine-storied Milarepa tower.
At later stages, retreat centers, monastic schools and old age homes will also be constructed.
