The 43.5 kilometer Trongsa-Zhemgang Highway will be fully maintained and resurfaced by the Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project Authority. The project has taken the responsibility upon itself as it will be using the stretch for transportation of materials in the project area.
The maintenance work which started in April this year will go on until the project ends in September 2017.
But the maintaining and resurfacing of the road will prove to be challenging, say the Project. The project will have to be on the look-out for continuous flow of traffic with heavy trucks plying on the road at full speed.
The work, which is divided in to four packages, includes constructing proper drainage system, blacktopping and maintenance. The project aims to complete the resurfacing work by July next year.
