A festival brings youth together

youth-About 200 students from schools in Punakha, Wangdiphodrang, Tsirang, Sarpang, Dagana, Trongsa and Thimphu Thromde, are taking part in the children and youth festival.

The “Be Seen, Be Heard: Youth Participation for Development” festival is being organized to bring young Bhutanese together to exchange ideas and learn from each other in a fun way.

The festival was inaugurated by the Agriculture and Forests Minister, Yeshey Dorji.

The festival displays a global village exhibition. The relevant agencies have set up educational stalls to educate and disseminate information on issues related to youth. It also include science exhibition by the students.

The Overall Programme Coordinator, Rinzin Wangdi, said during the next three days, the youth will participate in mural, arts and drawings. People from VAST will assist them. “In the evening, they will participate in community service. They will be visiting hospital among other things.”

The three days festival is organized by the Department of Youth and Sports under Education Ministry with funds from the UNICEF.
