The second biennial health conference began in the capital, today. During the conference, health-workers and officials will be discussing and reviewing the policies of the ministry.
The health minister, Tandin Wangchuk, during the opening, underlined that the Ministry is challenged by human resource shortage, and the rising cost of health services, among others.
The UN resident coordinator, Christina Carlson, on the other hand commended the tremendous achievements of the health sector in achieving health- related millennium development goals.
She also shared that the UN would continue to support the heath sector in line with priorities of the 11th five year plan. The World Health Organization’s country representative, Dr. Nani Nair, confirmed support to the health sector as well.
