His Holiness the Je Khenpo, who is currently in Samtse dzongkhag, administered the ground breaking ceremony and consecrated a 38-foot Zhabdrung Thongdrel for Gatsheling Dratshang in Dogap under Dophoogchen gewog in Samtse yesterday.
Perched on a hilltop and resembling a stone house the Lhakhang in Dogap village has served people for over 50 years. There are cracks visible on the wall of the Lhakhang and the small room inside the Lhakhang houses some of the nangtens, where villagers some as far as Haa come to revere.
But soon the village here will have a new Lhakhang. His Holiness the Je Khenpo yesterday had administered the ground breaking ceremony, where thousands of devotees, also from two gewogs of Doongtoed and Duenchukha, attended the ceremony.
Lam Kinley Yangzo said the Lhakhang will benefit the community.“About 16 of our monks are constantly performing prayers and ritual for people of three gewogs and also for people of one of the villages under Haa dzongkhag. If you see the kind of help we need to extend to these fur flung villages; I think we should have at least 30 monks here.”
The village also has a new thongdrel consecrated by His Holiness. This 38 foot Zhabdrung thongdrel is a contribution from civil servants, business community and villagers of Dogap in Dorokha.
