In the preliminary report prepared by the Dzongkhag disaster management focal group on the windstorm in Zhemgang on the night of the September 28, it is pointed out that seven gewogs have been affected.
The gewogs are Nangkhor, Bardo, Phangkhar, Ngangla, Goshing, Shingkhar and Bjoka. Nangkhor Gewog is the most adversely affected. Of the 22 houses that were affected, 11 houses have suffered major damage.
Almost 71 acres of crops shared by 98 households, which include maize, paddy and buckwheat, have been destroyed by the windstorm. Two government structures: an RNR centre and an ECCD school have been damaged as well.
The disaster group says that the damage caused by the windstorm and the crop production loss will be assessed based on existing practices.
