NC review CDG performance audit report

CDG-PerformanceAuditThe National Council’s Good Governance Committee yesterday submitted a review report on the performance audit of the Constituency Development Grant (CDG) carried out by the Royal Audit Authority (RAA).

The RAA findings highlighted that the CDG rule 2009 had facilitated proper utilisation of CDG funds and more than 92 percent of the total activities had been implemented. It also stated that people in general found the CDG scheme beneficial, but there were also lapses.

The findings also stated that CDG is allocated irrespective of the size of the Constituencies. And in some of the Constituencies, the grants were proposed without consulting the people.

One of the main recommendations was not to implement the Grant again. “Despite having observed that numerous activities had failed to comply with the CDG rules, the concerned National Assembly members were still issued with audit clearances at the end of their term,” Lhuentse Councillor Tempa Dorji.
