Dragon’s Gift attracts thousands

Thousands of people from different corners of the country visited the Dragon’s Gift Exhibition in the capital which ended today. It was held at the Royal Academy for Performing Arts for around 40 days.

The exhibition showcased religious artifacts including 46 bronze images and 65 thangkas. More than 40,000 people visited the exhibition.

An official from the Department of Culture said the exhibition is a very rare opportunity to get a glimpse of some of the most sacred artifacts of the country. Apart from the religious and historical significance, the artifacts are also the finest examples of Bhutanese traditional art and craft.

The Dragons Gift Exhibition will now travel to Trongsa on December 23 where it will be displayed till January 6. After Trongsa, the sacred arts will be displayed in Trashigang from January 11-25.

The exhibition was a joint venture project of the Department of Culture of the Ministry of Home and Culture Affairs and the Honolulu Academy of Arts in the USA

The sacred arts have traveled to the United States of America, Germany, France and Switzerland.
