Trashigang, one of the largest Dzongkhags in the country, does not have a single medical store. The only medical store the Dzongkhag had, was shut down a few years back. The medical store’s owner did not have the certificate that certifies him to sell medicines.
The lack of medical store, people say, is inconvenient for them since they have to visit the hospital and wait for a doctor to even get a pain killer.
The Dzongkhag did receive proposals to open medical stores in the Dzongkhag. But, the proposals were rejected since the ones, who put up the proposals, failed to produce trained certificates.
A person, who wants to open a medical shop, has to be trained in pharmacy or undergo training provided by the health ministry.
