The Phuentsholing police have detained a 32-year-old man of Indian origin in connection with illegal transaction of controlled substances.
Following a tip off, the man was apprehended at the pedestrian gate in Chinese line on Wednesday evening. He was found in possession of contraband tablets.
The accused, in his statement, said the substances were ordered by a lady in Pasakha and he was supposed to drop it off near Druk PNB office in Phuentsholing.
Later, the police with the help of Jaigoan police also raided the house of the accused and seized illegal substances.
The accused stated that the substances worth Nu.9000 were bought from the Indian town, Alipurduar.
This is the second drug case to be reported this year in Phuentsholing.
