(Update:) The fire at Manikha in Punakha was brought under control yesterday at 10 p.m. The fire that broke out on Friday night was first contained on Saturday morning. But by afternoon it had rekindled. Over 50 acres of Chirpine forest cover was lost to the fire.
About 100 locals, forestry officials, police personnel and desups battled the fire. The cause of the fire is still not known.
