Economic agencies failed timely response to Rupee crunch: NC

NC-on-Rupee-CrunchThe need to establish a strong coordination mechanism, fix accountability and propose stronger fiscal measures are some of the recommendation passed by the National Council on Rupee shortage in the Country. The recommendations were presented in the National Council, today.

The Chairperson of the Economic Affairs Committee, Rinzin Rinzin, presented the report. The committee had carried out a study to review the policies and issues on rupee crisis in the country. The committee pointed out that the institutions and policies, according to the review, shows the state’s key economic agencies have failed to provide timely response to the issue.

MP Rinzin Rinzin said it is important to address the rupee shortage for the long term economic security and stability.  He said it is crucial not only to identify the economic causes, but also the policies lapses.

The other recommendation is the accountability in addressing the problem. The committee said the concern government officials should also be vigilant on the issue.  They said there is a need for the finance ministry to prepare a comprehensive fiscal policy.

The house then extensively deliberated on the recommendations of the committee. Most of the members supported the recommendations.
