Coinciding with His Majesty’s 33rd birth anniversary yesterday, the Takin Festival 2013 was held in Damji, Gasa.
Lhendup Tharchen, the Park Manager of the Jigme Dorji National Park said the festival is mainly aimed at raising awareness on the conservation of the national animal, and to promote off-season eco-tourism.
Stalls were set up exhibiting cultural artifacts and textiles, medicinal plants, and mushrooms. A nature conservation demonstration was also put up by the locals.
The festival was funded by the Tourism Council of Bhutan.
