45 percent audit irregularities settled

NA-AuditReport-2008-2010About Nu.230 million of irregularities, which is 45 percent of unresolved irregularities reflected in the Audit Reports of 2008-2010 have been resolved. This was shared in a review by the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly, today.

Last Year, a total of over Nu. 500 million unresolved irregularities from ministries, dzongkhags, gewogs, autonomous bodies, corporations and NGOs was reported to the Parliament. Following the disclosure in audits, the National Assembly then directed the Committee to review and report the irregularities in the present session.

Today, the Committee, in less than a year, reported resolving over Nu. 230 million, leaving a balance of over Nu. 278 million from the Annual Audit Reports of 2008, 2009 and 2010.

The balance of unresolved irregularities accrued mostly in the Health Ministry and Penden Cement Authority limited, whose cases still maintain a status quo.

As per the review report, the agency that had resolved irregularities by 100 percent in all three years was the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests. The review was also presented to the National Council by the Committee Chairperson.

Meanwhile, the Assembly adopted the Alternate Dispute Resolution Bill of Bhutan 2012.
