Prime Minister arrives in Delhi

PM-IndiaPrime Minister Jigmi Y Thinley arrived in New Delhi, today on a two-day official visit.

He was received at the airport by the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Daggubati Purandeswari, the Foreign Secretary, Ranjan Mathai, the Joint Secretary (North) Akhilesh Mishra, and the acting Chief of Protocol, Anup K Mudgal.

Lyonchhoen shared with India’s Foreign Secretary, Ranjan Mathai, that he had come to India with a single purpose- to thank the government and the people of India.PM-with-Foreign-Secretary-

Lyonchhoen conveyed, on behalf of the people and the Bhutanese of government, appreciation for India’s generous assistance in successfully implementing Bhutan’s ambitious 10th Five Year Plan. He said because of India’s support, among others, the poverty level in Bhutan has reduced from 23 percent to about 12.04 percent.

Lyonchheon will meet with the President of India Pranab Mukherjee, the Vice-President M Hamid Ansari, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the Finance Minister, P Chidambaram tomorrow.

Lyonchhoen, is accompanied by economic affairs minister and Minister In-Charge of Foreign Affairs, Khandu Wangchuk, and the Foreign Secretary, Yeshey Dorji.
