The Paro Dzongkhag Court sentenced a 39-year-old man to four years and two months imprisonment, on Tuesday. The accused, a tourist guide, was arrested on December 5, last year, for assaulting and sexually harassing an Australian tourist.
The offender was charged for seven offenses of battery, trespassing, reckless endangerment, culpable driving, sexual harassment, official misconduct, and harassment.
The Court statement, however, reads that the sexual harassment charge was dropped due to lack of evidence and supporting documents.
The accused has also been fined Nu.1,250 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The accused will have to pay Nu. 145,100 for bail or he can appeal to higher authorities within ten working days.
