A senior police official from the Lodrai sub-jail in Gelephu, has been suspended after he was accused of raping a minor. The minor is a 16-year-old who worked as the officer’s maid.
The Chief of Police, Brigadier Kipchu Namgyal, told BBS that a high-level inquiry team, headed by the Police’s Deputy Chief of Administration, was sent to Gelephu as soon as they heard of the incident. Brigadier Kipchu Namgyal also stated that after the investigations, if the police officer is found to be guilty, he will be handed over to the local police station, and subjected to legal proceedings.
