The Phuentsholing police have detained a 30-year-old woman in connection with illegal transaction of controlled substances. The police intercepted her at the border entrance gate yesterday afternoon after a tip-off.
According to the police, the woman had declared the substances to be of worth around sixteen thousand ngultrum. She confessed that the substances were for self consumption. However, going by the amount seized, the police doubt it could be for sale.
The suspect will be charged under fourth degree felony with imprisonment ranging from 3 – 5 years.
