Man killed in a hit-and-run case

Hit-and-run-ExpresswayA 64-year-old man has been killed in a hit-and-run case. The man was supposedly hit by a taxi while he was trying to cross the Babesa expressway through the wire mesh opening.

The incident took place at 8:20 yesterday evening in front of the Honda Dhejung motors showroom in Thimphu.

The man succumbed to sever skull, ribs and spinal fractures shortly after he was taken to the National Referral Hospital.

According to an eye witness the vehicle that hit the man was a taxi. He said he couldn’t take the number down as the street light was not lit. He said the taxi had passengers.

An official from the Thimphu Traffic police said, if the passengers in the taxi fail to report to the police about the accident, they will also be charged.

The culprit is still at large and the case is being investigated.

So far, three people have lost their lives along the Babesa express way, in the hit-and-run cases.
