PM arrives in the country

The Prime Minister Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley arrived in the country today from Sri Lanka. Lyonchhoen was in Sri Lanka to grace the swearing–in-ceremony of President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s second term as the President of Sri Lanka.

Upon arrival at the Paro airport the Prime Minister was received by the Economic Affairs minister, Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk, the Labour and Human Resources Minister, Lyonpo Dorji Wangdi and senior government officials.

Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley, while in Sri Lanka also called on the President and discussed bilateral matters. During the stay, Lyonchhoen also met with Bhutanese students studying in Sri Lanka. There are about 130 Bhutanese students, mostly medical students.

Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley was accompanied by the Education Minister Lyonpo Thakur Singh Powdyel, the Ambassador of Bhutan to Sri Lanka, Dasho Bap Kesang, senior monks from the Zhung Dratshang and senior officials from the foreign ministry.
