Fourth ADC begins in Ladakh

The Annual Drukpa Council (ADC), opened yesterday at Hemis monastery in Ladakh, India. It began with the hoisting of Drukpa Council flag by His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche and Home Minister Minjur Dorji.

Speaking at the opening, Lyonpo Minjur Dorji, said the friendship between Ladhak and Bhutan was established in the 16th Century between Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Ladakh King Singay Namgyal.

The message of His Holiness the Je Khenpo was also read out to the people of Ladakh.  

Tens of thousands of devotees from all over the world attended the opening ceremony.

Our reporter, Tsheltrim Gyaltshen, says that about 40 monks from Bhutan are also taking part in the Council. The Council will end on Friday.
