Labour ministry’s action plan to gainfully employ graduates

Over 2,500 university graduates are estimated to be seeking employment in the labour market currently. At a press conference today, the labour minister, Dorji Wangdi, said the labour ministry, in order to achieve the objective of providing gainful employment, has drafted an Action Plan for Full Employment of University Graduates.

According to the action plan, detailed information of individual graduate, courses undertaken by the graduates as well as their status of employment will be compiled by the ministry. A comprehensive job mapping will also be done for each individual considering their interests and academic background.

Under the plan, the first ever National Employment Forum will be conducted in November.

Similarly, National Job Fair and Regional Job Fairs will also be conducted towards the end of this year.

The strategies and action plan aims to  keep 100 percent of graduates’ employed, with over 80 percent of them in regular or permanent employment.
