Bajo town fails to keep vegetable shed clean

Maintaining cleanliness at the only vegetable shed at Bajo in Wangduephodrang has become a serious concern to both the sellers and buyers.

Despite paying charges to the sweeper every week, the only temporary vegetable is dirty all the time. When it rains, the surrounding area gets flooded with rain water. There is also no proper drainage system in the area.

The unwanted vegetables and other waster are strewn all over, making it inconvenient for the people living nearby and passersby.

Vendors said every week, a sum of Nu.5 – 20 ngultrum is being collected maintain the area.

The Deputy Executive Engineer of the municipal office, Lobzang, said vendors should take equal responsibility in keeping the area clean. “Charity should first start from home.”

Meanwhile, a two storied vegetable shed will be constructed soon. The drawing for the vegetable shed is completed. The construction will be funded by the Punatshangchu Hydro Power Authority.
