Diesel price to increase

After India announced a sharp rise in the price of diesel, the first increase in more than one year, in an attempt to cut the country’s budget deficit, the price for diesel in the country will go up by Nu 5.25 to 5.30 with effect from mid night today.

A press release from the Department of Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that a liter of diesel in Thimphu will now cost Nu. 46.74, an increase of Nu 5.29.  In Phuentsholing, a liter of diesel will cost Nu 45.30. It used to be Nu 41.45 earlier

The prices for diesel fluctuate in different regions and dzongkhags in the country mainly because of the varying cost of transportation.
