Maximising quality of emergency care

To maximise the quality of emergency care with available resources at the local level, the first ever training of Emergency Medicine and Trauma for Doctors began in Monggar today. The training is also to standardise the Emergency Management and Trauma care protocols at district level.

According to Dr.Tashi Tenzin, the training is for capacity building. “The idea is to build strength and capacity of our local doctors working in rural areas and to provide emergency and first aid medical services,” he said.

During the five day training, doctors will also perform practical sessions with the help of modern technologies and equipment.

About eight specialists from the National Referral Hospital including specialists from Harvard Humanitarian Initiatives in the US are training the Doctors.

The training is organised by the Emergency Medical Service Programme with collaboration with Bhutan Foundation and Harvard Humanitarian Initiatives in the US. It is funded by Bhutan Foundation.
