MoU for private sector development

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) and Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote exchange, cooperation and mutual understanding between the private sectors of the two countries.

This was one of the outcomes of the Prime Minister, Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley’s meeting with the Chairman of Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) and, senior and prominent businessmen in Seoul, South Korea yesterday.

Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley and KCCI chairman discussed various areas for possible cooperation. The Prime Minister informed the group of prominent Korean businessmen that Bhutan has considerable potentials in building world class health and education facilities. The prime minister also spoke, among several other topics, on promoting Bhutan as high-end tourist destination as tourism is going to experience a considerable growth in the next few years.

The KCCI chairman said that he will encourage Korean businessmen to visit Bhutan, interact with the business community and assess the areas for possible co-operation and collaboration.

A MoU was also signed between the BCCI and the Suwon Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) yesterday to provide and exchange information on trade, services, investment and economic cooperation between the two chambers. BCCI and SCCI have also agreed to provide advice and assistance to companies and businesses when business delegations from one party visit the other party.

The Prime Minister, who is on a three-day visit to the Republic of Korea, is accompanied by BCCI President Tobgyal Dorji, eight Bhutanese representing the private sector and other senior government officials.
