His Majesty grants audience to Japanese monks

His Majesty the King granted an audience to a 86-member Japanese delegation who are in the country to thank the royal couple for visiting Japan in November last year.

The delegation includes 35 senior monks. This morning they gathered at the courtyard of the Tashichhodzong to meet His Majesty. The occasion began with Zhu dey Phusum Tshogpa followed by Marchang, a practice sanctifying the whole purpose.

The kuenrey resounded with joint-prayer ceremony chanted by the monks. It was organized for the peace and wellbeing of the people of Japan.

After the ceremony, His Majesty the King interacted with all the members of the delegation sharing some experiences from the last year’s state visit to Japan. The delegation from Sotoshu school of Buddhism came here to convey the appreciation of the Japanese people to the people of Bhutan for the solidarity and prayers offered when Japan was struck by massive disaster last year.

The delegation is also in Bhutan to express gratitude for the message of hope, goodwill and friendship conveyed by His Majesty the King during the state visit to Japan in November last year.
