Wisdom and knowledge should humble us: PM

The higher you are in terms of knowledge attainment, the more humbled you should be. The Prime Minister Jigmi Y. Thinley was speaking to the university graduates at the National graduates orientation programme today.

Speaking to some 2,263 university graduates, Lyonchhoen said the country’s economic growth over the last one year was better than other countries in the South Asia. He also spoke on unemployment and government’s effort to address the issue.

The Prime Minister advised the graduates that knowledge and wisdom should not make them arrogant but more humble.

“I appeal to you that you may be highly educated but that gives you no reason to be arrogant. The higher you are in terms of knowledge attainment, you have become more humbled. Wisdom and knowledge should humble us.”

Besides this, the Prime Minister also spoke on how government is mindful of environment preservation while implementing infrastructure development plans. Lyonchhoen also talked on Bhutan’s successful transition to democracy and valuing the sanctity of marriage.

“Since you all are young, admiration might have been exchanged among each other and also might get married. If that is the case, then it is very good. But while getting married, one should think properly and get married. This is because marriage is a knot that will tie you all together for a life time.”

The graduates also put up questions to the Prime Minister on diverse topics like balance of payment, employment, media, good governance, health and Bhutan’s accession to the World Trade Organisation.
