GoI fund for Small Development Project

The Indian Ambassador to Bhutan Mr. Pavan K. Varma handed over a cheque of over Nu. 857 million under the Small Development Project (SDP) funding scheme to the Finance Minister, Lyonpo Wangdi Norbu, yesterday morning.

The Small Development Project is part of Government of India’s assistance to Bhutan in the 10th five year plan. The total allocation is Nu. 7,000 million.

The Small Development Project finances a wide range of projects mostly in rural areas which are crucial for addressing rural poverty.

Ever since a committee of four members from Indian Embassy and Bhutan has been formed in 2009, a total of 1,259 projects costing over Nu. 3,925 million have been approved.
