Chuzergang community information centre closed

Nov 30, 2011

Residents of Chuzergang Geog have been complaining that the community information centre in the geog is locked all the time.

Over the past two months, the centre has not opened even once.

“We visit the community information centre to browse the internet and check our exam results but the centre is always closed,” said Yeshey Zangmo.

“The community information center is useful for us. We come here to write letters, process passport size photographs and scan and fax documents,” said Dema, a regular user of the services offered by the centre.

The community information centres were established by the government to provide easy and affordable access to information and communication services in rural areas.

Sangay Thinley, the Gup, said the concerned person has been warned and asked to report for duty.

“If the person in charge of the centre fails to resume his duty within the give time, we will have to inform the concerned authority for necessary action.”

But despite the warning, the in charge has not turned up.

BBS tried to get in touch with him for comments but could not contact him.
