Lyonchhoen proposes Happiness as Ninth MDG

The Prime Minister Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley proposed for inclusion of Happiness as the Ninth Millennium Development Goal (MDG) at the United Nations General Assembly.

Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley, who is leading the Bhutanese delegation to the 65th United Nations General Assembly, addressed the High-Level Plenary Meeting on the Millennium Development Goals.

The inclusion of the ninth goal, Lyonchhoen said, would confirm that we were concerned with the quality of life and of adding meaning and value to life.

While in New York, the Prime Minister also held bilateral meetings with several world leaders and discussed issues of mutual interests.
