A 54-year-old officiating principal in one of the schools in Tsirang is under Police custody for alleged child molestation.
According to sources, the case surfaced last month when the school conducted an awareness session for its students on what defines a “good” or a “bad” touch. A group of girls studying in second and third grade reported that the accused touched them on their private parts as a form of punishment while he pinches the boys on their nose for the same.
The Tsirang police arrested the accused on the 7th of this month upon receiving a complaint. The police are currently investigating the case.
According to the Penal code of Bhutan, a defendant shall be guilty of the offence of child molestation if the defendant molests a child. The offence of child molestation shall be a felony of fourth-degree, which shall be three years minimum and a maximum of five years terms of imprisonment.
