Owners of Bhutan Employment Overseas arrested

Thimphu Police arrested the owners of Bhutan Employment Overseas (BEO) Jurmey Tshewang and Tenzin Rigden yesterday for alleged forgery of documents in connection to the “Learn and Earn” programme in Japan.

The representatives of the parents’ committee of youth submitted an appeal letter to the police on 26th of last month to register the case as a criminal case.

The letter claimed that the agent had forged documents, involved in deceptive practices where youth were deceived with guaranteed jobs in Japan. Also, harassed youth who complained about the problems youth faced in Japan abandoned persons in danger and human trafficking where youth were exploited by the agent.

The issue came into the limelight, following some students who went through the programme started accusing the agent failing to provide part-time jobs, charging exorbitant tuition and visa processing fees, which youths said is a breach of the contract agreement between the agent and youth.
