Election Commission preparing for 2013

The Election Commission is gearing up for the 2013 parliamentary elections. In line with this, election officials from across the country are meeting for the Third Election Conference in Tsirang, coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the first parliamentary elections in the country today. The Conference is held with the theme strategising Second Parliamentary Elections 2013.

The Chief Election Commissioner, Dasho Kunzang Wangdi, in his opening remarks called on the election officers to be more vigilant and better prepared for the 2013 elections.

“With rich experience from the past parliamentary elections, and reinforced by multidimensional experience of the local government elections, which was a commentary on how enmeshed the elected positions could be in the future elections,” said the Chief Election Commissioner, urging the electoral officers to be more prepared.

The election officials will discuss various strategies and guidelines for the 2013 parliamentary elections. Various reports related to election commission and past elections will also be presented to the participants

A book titled “Reinforcing Democratic Movement in Bhutan” was released by the Chief Election Commissioner.
