A total of 438,663 registered voters- 224,550 female and 214,113 male- will go to the polls on Saturday to cast their votes in the Primary Round of the Third Parliamentary National Assembly Election 2018.

The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) says it is all set for the upcoming election.

“All the preparations have been done and set. The political parties ended their campaign this morning. Now, we are already in the 48-hour no-campaign period,” Sonam Tobgyal, ECB’s Spokesperson said.

The commission urges all registered voters to take part in the election by casting their votes.

“I would like to really urge all voters to come forward and participate,” Sonam Tobgyal added.

A total of 865 polling stations have been set across the country and more than 3,000 polling officials excluding security personnel deployed.

“Some are already in the field and others will be in their respective polling stations by today. Despite the weather conditions especially in the south, all our polling officials have reported to their respective polling stations,” Sonam Tobgyal said.
