Two Thimphu students to represent Bhutan in wildlife quiz

Kuenga Pelmo of Changzamtog Middle Secondary School and Rigden Kuenga of Etho Metho Primary School, both six graders, are winners of the Bhutan edition of the Wild Wisdom Quiz (WWQ).

The national level quiz competition was held earlier today in Thimphu. Students from 15 schools in the capital took part.

The two winners, Kuenga Pelmo and Rigden Kuenga, will go on to represent Bhutan in the international finale of Asia’s biggest wildlife quiz.

The finale will be held in New Delhi, India on October 4.

The WWQ is a program created by the WWF-India as a platform to reach out to young school children and promote their understanding of the value of biodiversity through a fun-filled and interactive learning experience.

Now in its 11th year, WWQ has seen the participation of more than 50,000 students from 800 schools in India and Nepal.

The WWF Bhutan and the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature (RSPN) introduced the quiz, known to be Asia’s biggest wildlife quiz, in Bhutan this year to elevate the environmental consciousness of the young Bhutanese.
