The people of Melonggang_Thuloonggang Chiwog of Dophoogchen_Tading Constituency in Samtse are happy with the common forum for the National Assembly (NA) Elections held near their Chiwog.
The NA common forums started from today.
Earlier, they had to spend a night in the gewog centre while attending any kind of election-related meetings. The election officials, this time, are conducting the common forums in almost all the Chiwogs including some remote villages so that it will be easier for the people to attend one.
63-year- old Dhan Bdr Rai from Thuloonggang village walked for over two-hour to attend a common forum at Melonggang Out Reach Clinic (ORC). For him, the two-hour walk is nothing compared to a day’s walk to attend similar meetings before.
“We got the opportunity to meet and talk with the representatives of all the four political parties. With the meeting closer to our village, it was convenient for us to attend.”
About 50 people attended the common forum at Melonggang-Thuloongang, which is one of the remotest Chiwogs in Dophoogchen_Tading constituency.
“This time with the meeting near to our village, we are happy that the people of all ages could come and take part in the meeting,”Tshewang Penjor from, Melonggang, said.
Out of 12, two common forums have been conducted in the constituency. A total of 41 common forums will be conducted in the dzongkhag.
