The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) will prosecute an alleged child abuse case involving a drayang owner in Trongsa. The case was forwarded to the Trongsa District Court earlier this month.
The 36-year-old drayang owner was charged with child abuse for employing a 17-year-old girl as a dancer.
The girl was recruited in June.
The Regulations on Working Conditions 2012 of the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources prohibits employment of children between the ages of 13 to 17 in discotheques and drayangs.
The Penal Code of Bhutan 2004 categorises child abuse as a misdemeanour offence, which carries a prison sentence of one to three years.
