3 men arrested for gold smuggling

Police in Paro are investigating a gold smuggling case involving four suspects. Three of the four men were arrested on July 4 from Shana in Tsento Gewog. They had 20 kilograms of gold in their possession.

The fourth suspect, who is believed to be the main dealer, was arrested the following day.

All four suspects are farmers.

According to police, the gold, smuggled in from Tibet, was intended to be taken to India and Nepal.

The seized gold has been handed over to the Royal Monetary Authority (RMA).

The case will be forwarded to the court.
