Monggar’s mobile CID processing service benefits students

The Monggar Dzongkhag Census Office has initiated a mobile citizenship identity card (CID) processing service in the lower and higher secondary schools in the remote gewogs.

It is aimed at saving cost and time for the students who have reached 15 years of age.  The service began at Chali Lower Secondary School last Saturday.

A total of 22 students availed themselves of the service.

Students welcomed such initiative.

“Travelling to the Dzongkhag to process our CIDs is not only time consuming but also a financial burden for our parents. We are grateful for such an initiative from the Dzongkhag,” Dawa Dema, a student from Chali Lower Secondary School, said.

“We now do not need to travel all the way to the Dzongkhag to process our CIDs,” Yeshi Norbu, another student, said.

The service is also provided to other people in the villages.

“My wife’s sister could not process her citizenship identity card since she is physically challenged and we could not take her to the Dzongkhag,”Jigme Tenzin from Chhaling, said.

Once the Dzongkhag completes all the procedures, the online documents will be submitted to Department of Civil Registration and Census in Thimphu for final verification and printing of the CIDs.
