No Tshogpa in Pangthang chiwog in Pema Gatshel

Even after two rounds of bye-elections this year, Pangthang chiwog in Pema Gatshel is still without a Tshogpa. The post remains vacant. Without a Tshogpa, a lot of developmental activities have been delayed in the chiwog. Serving as a bridge between the gewog and chiwog, a Tshogpa is important for planning developmental activities.

Tang people raise concern about former OL’s Wobthang vegetable farm ownership

Two years on since the Wobthang Organic Wonders was initiated, the people of Tang Gewog in Bumthang are now questioning its ownership and the benefit it has to the community. People raised their concerns to the Prime Minister during his visit to the Gewog last month. The former Opposition Leader Pema Gyamtsho founded the vegetable farm on state land, which was traditionally occupied by Tang people as pastureland. The farm is also yet to acquire the land on lease.

Residents of Minjey Gewog want the contractor to speed up GSB surfacing of their farm road

The 16-kilometre-long farm road begins from Chenling village and ends at the Gewog Centre. Its first phase of GSB surfacing works and the construction of a drainage system, covering about 11 km were awarded to a contractor in December 2020.

Pass percentage for this year’s PE highest since 2018

The pass percentage of the university graduates, who sat for this year’s Preliminary Examination (PE) of the Bhutan Civil Service Examination (BCSE), is the highest in the past four years. The PE results, declared today, revealed the pass percentage of 64.88 per cent, which is an increase of a little over 24 per cent since 2018. Compared to last year’s performance, it is up by more than 38 per cent.

Bhutanese travellers denied entry to Nepal for carrying travel documents

It came as a shock for a group of Bhutanese travellers when their trip to Nepal was cut short right after it started. Seven people were denied entry at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal earlier today. They had to return home. They said they were refused visas since they were carrying travel documents instead of passports.
