Media reports of not testing foreign workers at the point of entry have people accusing the government of lapses. However, a member of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG), Dr Tshokey, said due protocols and procedures were followed while importing the workers. He clarified that antigen tests for foreign workers are not conducted in entry points due to the inaccuracy of the tests during the early stages of infections.

Woman charged with alleged Trafficking of a Child after the victim dies by suicide

A 77-year-old woman in Thimphu is charged with alleged trafficking of a child. The North Thimphu Police station registered the case against the woman recently. She is accused of trafficking a 13-year-old non-Bhutanese girl. The case came into the limelight after the girl died by suicide at Langjophakha in Thimphu on the 16th of this month.

Booster shot campaign deferred in districts under lockdown

The booster shot campaign which was supposed to begin from tomorrow has been deferred in Thimphu and other places under lockdown. As per the Technical Advisory Group, the booster shot will however be rolled out in the green districts. So far, the country has vaccinated around 260,000 people mostly in the high-risk areas and frontline workers in low-risk areas.

New High School expected to open this year in Zhemgang

The Education Ministry is working to open a third government high school in Zhemgang. The ministry has bought a private school that was shut down for many years and is currently refurbishing it. The school is expected to open from this academic session. The news has not only delighted parents but also shopkeepers in the locality who are hoping it will boost their business.
