Health Ministry carries out successful pilot of ePIS at JDWNRH

The Health Ministry’s electronic Patient Information System or ePIS has been successfully piloted at the National Referral Hospital in Thimphu. The ePIS is an integrated system aimed at enhancing the country’s health service by digitizing the health system. About 28 percent of the project has been achieved so far.

Residents of Woongborang and Kerong chiwogs long for a direct farm road

The residents of Woongborang chiwog in Dungmaed Gewog and Kerong chiwog in Chhoekhorling Gewog of Pema Gatshel are requesting for a direct farm road connection between the two chiwogs. Currently, they are connected by the gewog farm road which takes at least five hours by car. The residents of the two chiwogs have been longing for a direct farm road for quite some time now.

Tiktokers raise funds to help people living with disabilities

A group of Bhutanese TikTokers are using the short video-sharing application to give back to the community. The group earlier this year, used the app to address the waste issues by collecting garbage from across the country. And now, they are looking after the welfare of people living with disabilities by raising funds through TikTok. The group is currently funding a rented shelter at Semtokha for a group of people using wheelchairs.

Mini Dragons League kicks off

The second edition of the Grassroots League of Bhutan also known as the “Mini Dragons League” kicked off today at Changlimithang stadium. A total of thirteen teams from Paro and Thimphu are participating in the league. It is aimed at promoting grassroots football and encouraging parents’ support. The Bhutan Football Federation is organising the one-and-a-half-month tournament.

Eleven families still in makeshift shelters after heavy rain damaged their houses

The heavy rainfall in the summer has left 11 families homeless at Martang chiwog of Dewathang Gewog in Samdrup Jongkhar. They are currently staying in temporary makeshift shelters as the monsoon in June this year left their houses damaged. The Gewog administration is working out ways to relocate all 28 households of the chiwog to Namshiwoong as the area at Martang is not feasible for settlement.

STCBL’s fifth fuel outlet to benefit Chumey residents and East-West highway travellers; Chamkhar’s business could see further decline

People in Chhumey Gewog in Bumthang are pleased with the construction of the State Trading Corporation of Bhutan or STCBL’s new fuel outlet in their Gewog. The construction which started in September this year is expected to be complete in the next four months. However, some people say this could have an adverse effect on Chamkhar’s business though it would benefit East-West travellers and the Chhumey community.

The Saling Gewog Administration office in Monggar is trying to settle a rather strange case. A group of people from Risa village have approached the office asking for help against a private religious teacher who they claim has created disharmony in the community.

Shopkeepers in Thimphu Thromde struggle to adhere to waste segregation regulation

It has been more than a month since the Thimphu Thromde conducted a waste segregation inspection in the core town area and fined individuals. However, residents, especially shop owners, are finding it difficult to adhere to the waste segregation regulation. They said the street vendors and passersby still dump waste without segregating it. 

Towards promoting E-Commerce business model

With better Internet access and most people switching to smartphones, electronic commerce or E-Commerce is increasingly taking over the traditional ways of doing business in the country. An e-commerce business is a business model where goods or services are bought and sold over the internet. The Labour Ministry is currently providing short-term capacity development on E-Commerce to eligible business and private sector individuals to further promote the concept in the country.
