A community contract group in Lakhu chiwog of Guma Gewog in Punakha has accused the Gewog Tender Committee of unlawfully cancelling their community contract. Despite the achievement, the centre today is struggling to keep afloat. Experiencing financial challenges regularly, the centre is facing the threat of closure and job cuts.

Some graduates are returning to their hometown and venturing into farming. In Trashigang, a 24-year-old graduate has become the first mushroom grower at Bikhar village in Samkhar Gewog. Although it has been a bumpy start without adequate skills, the business is now growing after she acquired some skills earlier this year. She plans to grow oyster mushrooms on large scale.

The Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Power Project Authority has handed over the 720 MW Mangdechhu hydropower project to the Druk Green Power Corporation. The official handing over ceremony was held yesterday in Thimphu in the presence of Economic Affairs Minister Loknath Sharma, and Ambassador of India to Bhutan Sudhakar Dalela. A handing-over document was signed between the Managing Directors of MHPA and DGPC.

Orange growers in Zhemgang have a new reason to rejoice. The National Post Harvest Sub-Center at Brumbi has resumed its orange pulp production service. This means oranges which cannot be exported can be used to extract pulp which is being bought by a fruit processing company. The service had been suspended for the past four years after the processing plant was damaged by a fire in 2018.

The Election Commission of Bhutan will reduce the number of polling stations for the upcoming National Council election scheduled for early next year. Of 866 polling stations, 44 stations will be removed. This, the Commission says, is one of its cost-cutting measures.
