DGPC officially takes over 720MW Mangdechhu hydropower project

The Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Power Project Authority has handed over the 720 MW Mangdechhu hydropower project to the Druk Green Power Corporation. The official handing over ceremony was held yesterday in Thimphu in the presence of Economic Affairs Minister Loknath Sharma, and Ambassador of India to Bhutan Sudhakar Dalela. A handing-over document was signed between the Managing Directors of MHPA and DGPC.

Free orange pulp processing for orange growers by Zhemgang NPH-SC

Orange growers in Zhemgang have a new reason to rejoice. The National Post Harvest Sub-Center at Brumbi has resumed its orange pulp production service. This means oranges which cannot be exported can be used to extract pulp which is being bought by a fruit processing company. The service had been suspended for the past four years after the processing plant was damaged by a fire in 2018.

ECB to reduce polling stations for NC elections scheduled early next year

The Election Commission of Bhutan will reduce the number of polling stations for the upcoming National Council election scheduled for early next year. Of 866 polling stations, 44 stations will be removed. This, the Commission says, is one of its cost-cutting measures.
