Seven former staff of CLCS filed a case against the CLCS and RUB

The six former lecturers and a supporting staff of the College of Language and Culture Studies (CLCS) in Trongsa, who were compulsorily retired without any benefits in May this year for alleged sexual harassment, filed a case against the CLCS and Royal University of Bhutan at the Trongsa District Court today. 

Maintenance of the turbines of MHP in full swing

The 720MW Mangdechhu Hydropower Plant in Trongsa is carrying out inspection, rectification and maintenance of all four power generating machines alternatively in this lean season. The lean season for the hydropower generation starts in October and lasts till March. 

Haa DT comes up with measures to regulate growing number of sawmills

To regulate the number of sawmills, Haa Dzongkhag Tshogdu decided to allow two sawmills each for the three gewogs of Sangbay, Gakiling and Samar. This is following the concerns amidst growing number of sawmills in the dzongkhag. With 23 stationary and three mobile sawmills,  Haa has the highest number of sawmills in the country today.  

Gongdue and Silambi GC road to be blacktopped by 2020

More than Nu 50 M has been allocated in the financial year 2019-2020 to blacktop gewog center (GC) roads at Gongdue and Silambi gewogs in Monggar. Gongdue and Silambi are the only two gewogs in the district without blacktopped GC roads.

Sustainability of CSOs

According to the Civil Society Organisation (CSO) mapping report 2019 which was launched yesterday, 68 per cent of CSOs cannot continue without accessing external resources. And Bhutan graduating from Least Developed Countries' (LDC) category by 2023, external resources aiding the CSOs are withdrawing.

CPI falls new low

On a monthly basis, consumer prices remained unchanged in August and September despite civil servants across all categories getting significant salary raise in July. Consumer prices in the country reached a new low, falling continuously in the third quarter. Annual inflation in September fell to 2.5 per cent according to the National Statistics Bureau.
