Passenger buses stranded in Bumthang

Ten passenger buses, travelling from and to the Eastern parts of the country are stranded in Bumthang because of today’s snowfall. Even the East-West Highway is open to traffic; the Road Safety and Transport Authority did not allow passenger buses to travel as precaution.

Hearing on JPLP tax evasion to begin again

Phuentshogling Dungkhag Court is most likely to begin the hearing on JPLP tax evasion case in three weeks time. The case had been deferred since November, last year. The court was to hold the hearing on December 28, last year.

The Five-Day Moenlam Chhenmo or the great prayer ceremony in Samtse concluded, today. His Holiness the Je Khenpo presided over the ceremony with Monks from Samtse Rabdey. The prayer ceremony began on Saturday.

No counsellors to attend to the helpline

Not a single call to toll free Nazhoen Helpline 214 has been attended to in the last one month. Two counselors are supposed to take calls on weekdays.

Bhutan offers special tourism package to Japan

A Japanese tourist visiting Bhutan will need to pay only the royalty part, US$ 65, a night in June, July, and August. Tourism Council of Bhutan’s Officials said Japanese tourists will be waived off the daily tourist tariff of US$ 250, a night. Bhutan is offering the special tourism package to Japan to mark the 30 years of diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

RSTA’s new rules not uniform, Taxi Drivers say

Most of the Taxi Drivers feel the new Road Safety and Transport Authority's rules should be uniform. The new rules will not allow Taxis, registered in other dzongkhags, to operate local in Thimphu and Phuentshogling. The rules, which are going to be implemented from next month, also say the ones registered in Phuentshogling cannot operate local in Thimphu and vice-versa.

Man detained for illicit trafficking of controlled substances

Phuentshogling Police arrested a 27-year-old Taxi Driver for illicit trafficking of controlled substances at Rinchending Check Post, this morning.

Construction of three farm roads begin in Samtse

To fast-track economic activities in the villages; works to construct three new farm roads began in Samtse, last week. A total of 22.5 kilometres farm roads will be completed by the end of this year.

Five stabbing cases in Phuentshogling

There were five stabbing cases in Phuentshogling in the last couple of months. Of the five, two succumbed to the injuries.
